INSEAD MBA - Application Requirements

Submit a compelling application package via the INSEAD online portal by your selected intake deadline. Your materials should reflect academic ability, leadership potential, global mindset, and alignment with INSEAD’s values (insead.edu).

Key Application Components

  • Online Application Form
    Complete and submit the application online with all required documents.
  • Academic Transcripts & Degree Certificates
    Provide scanned copies of transcripts and diplomas from all post-secondary education. Official translations if not in English or French.
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
    One-page CV in your preferred format or using INSEAD’s template.
  • Test Scores (GMAT / GRE)
    Submit competitive GMAT or GRE scores. Both are accepted equally. No fixed minimum but competitive applicants generally score above the 70th percentile.
  • Language Requirements
    Proof of English proficiency is mandatory (TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE if applicable) and demonstration of practical proficiency in a second language is required.
  • Essays – Motivation Essays
    The motivation essays are a critical part of the evaluation process. Applicants must thoughtfully address the following prompts:
    1. Give a candid description of yourself as a person and a leader, emphasising the strengths and weaknesses you recognise in yourself. Explain how you are actively working on your development, sharing key experiences that have shaped you, providing specific examples where relevant. (500 words)
    2. Describe a highly stressful situation you faced and how you managed it. What did this experience teach you about yourself and your interactions with others? (400 words)
    3. Is there anything else that was not covered in your application that you would like to share with the Admissions Committee? (300 words)
  • Recommendation Letters
    Two professional recommendation letters preferred from supervisors or those who can objectively evaluate leadership and teamwork. A third letter is optional.
  • Video & Written Interview (Kira Talent)
    Following application submission, complete a video interview with three video questions and one written question. Preparation and response times are limited, and the entire exercise takes about 15–20 minutes.
  • Alumni Interviews
    Shortlisted candidates will be invited to two interviews (virtual or in-person) assessing leadership potential, motivation, and cultural fit.
  • Campus Preference
    Applicants select France, Singapore, or “Both campuses.” Assignment is generally final post-admission.
  • Optional Supporting Materials
    Additional documents such as a third recommendation letter, awards, or certifications may be included.
  • Application Fee
    Non-refundable fee of €250; applications are processed only after payment.
