Prepare a compelling and complete application to reflect your academic strength, career clarity, emotional intelligence (EQ), and alignment with Stern’s values. All materials must be submitted through the Stern online portal by the relevant deadline for your selected intake round.

    Submit a valid GMAT or GRE score. NYU Stern does not prefer one test over the other. Applicants may also apply using the Executive Assessment (EA), LSAT, or MCAT.
  • Essays
    NYU Stern requires a set of structured essays that assess your personal values, professional goals, leadership potential, and creative self-expression.

      What are your short-term career goals?
      (150 words)
      Describe your post-MBA role, industry, company, and function. This short answer should be clear, actionable, and aligned with your application story.
    • Essay 1: “Change: _____ it”
      (350 words)
      Choose a word to complete Stern’s brand slogan “Change: ___ it” (e.g., Dare it, Drive it, Empower it) and explain its personal relevance. Share a specific example of how you’ve enacted this value and how you plan to bring it to Stern.
    • Essay 2: Personal Expression – “Pick Six”
      Submit six images and one-sentence captions in a single PDF file to introduce yourself visually and personally. Include a brief introduction (up to three sentences) to contextualize the images. This essay offers insight into your identity, passions, values, and creativity.
    • Essay 3: Additional Information (Optional)
      (500 words)
      Use this space to explain employment gaps, academic anomalies, test retakes, or other relevant context not addressed elsewhere in the application.
  • Recommendation Letter
    One professional recommendation is required. It should ideally come from a current or recent supervisor who can evaluate your leadership, maturity, and potential. A second optional letter may be submitted if it adds a new perspective.

    NYU Stern does not currently require a video essay for the Full-Time MBA. However, applicants may be invited for interviews as part of the evaluation process.
